About Eva

About Eva colour.jpg

Eva's journey in photography began quite by accident after a fateful natter with legend local photographer Richard Brimer. After some hard yards holding the camera bag she finally got her hands on its contents and a love affair with the lens began.

Since then she has become a firm believer that awesome photography - at a wedding, family portrait or commercial shoot - is as much about personality as it is outstanding technical and creative skills. The result is a unique style that has seen her become one of the region's top people photographers.

A reformed journalist, Eva spent her early 20s as a TV reporter for One News and traversed the lower South Island and then Hawkes Bay directing shoots and helping editors stitch stories together.

This background not only firmly established her creative experience in image composition, but honed her flair for thriving under pressure.

Once upon a time, a breaking story two hours before the six o'clock news was full-on.

Experience has taught her that ain't nothing on creating awesome wedding photography in the pouring rain when the clock is ticking, or making a grumpy toddler give you the money shot when all he really wants to do is bugger off back to his play pen.

Being cool under pressure and at the same time making sure her subjects are having the time of their lives is one of the things that make Eva's photography different and in demand. In 2010 she was joined by fellow wedding junkie and sharp shooter Michelle Fey and the pair are now among the region's leading creative talent in the wedding and portrait industry.

A winner of national awards for both her wedding and portrait photography, Eva is one of those lucky buggers who absolutely adores her job and can't ever imagine doing anything else.

When she does step away from the camera and out of the studio, it's straight to the marina to launch U2, Eva's 18ft stress-busting yacht...or a run at the beach with office PA and slightly mad dog Greta. You can read all about Eva's slightly left-field private life in her very public syndicated humour column, which she writes for APN.
