About Eva Eva's journey in photography began quite by accident. A bit of a bossy britches at her own wedding, legend Hawkes Bay photographer Richard Brimer got her on board and over the following two years taught her the photographic flair to go with the natural people-management skills he had already spotted.
A reformed journalist, Eva spent her early 20s as a TV reporter for One News and traversed the lower South Island and then Hawkes Bay directing shoots and helping editors stitch stories together.
This background not only firmly established her creative experience in image composition, but honed her flair for thriving under pressure. Once upon a time, she thought a breaking story two hours before the six o'clock news was full-on. Experience has taught her that ain't nothing on creating awesome wedding photography in the pouring rain when the clock is ticking, or making a grumpy toddler laugh when all he really wants to do is get that lollipop he was promised and quit the joint. Being cool under pressure and at the same time making sure her subjects are having the time of their lives is one of the things that make Eva's photography different and in demand. A winner of national awards for both her wedding and portrait photography, she is one of those lucky buggers who absolutely adores her job and can't ever imagine doing anything else. When she does step away from the camera and out of the studio, it's usually to hang out with her two slightly mad dogs at the beach where she lives, or write next week's edition of her nationally syndicated humour column.
