Extended family portrait photography session by Hawke's Bay photographer, Eva Bradley.

As we all know, 2020 has been a funny old year. But there are sliver linings to every cloud and many of us have developed a new appreciation for family, for getting together and for celebrating in our own back yard. For Auckland couple Beryl and Graham, that meant a weekend away in Hawke’s Bay with their children and grandchildren to celebrate a special birthday. Beryl’s children bought her a voucher for an Extend Family Portrait session and it was a great chance for them to get some special photos of their own little families and children while making memories with the grandparents.

I alway shoot as many combinations as possible at an Extended Family session - full group photos, nuclear families, grandparents with the grandchildren, individuals of all grandchildren - whatever is possible during a session that takes around an hour, or as long as the little ones permit! I want to create memories of the special relationship between generations, so play time and candid engagement is a big part of my style, as well as more classic composition and group photos. This was all incredibly easy to do at one of the River Lodges, part of the Black Barn Retreats suite of gorgeous private accommodations. The River Lodges are set in the heart of the Tukituki River Valley and look back to Te Mata Peak, an iconic Hawke’s Bay landmark and a favourite location for all Hawke’s Bay photographers.

A big thank you to Beryl and Graham and their family for letting me share their session with you. If an Extended Family Session like this appeals to you as a gift for someone special in your family or just for yourself, you can find out more info and prices here. And yes, I do gift vouchers.
