There is something special about working with a couple who are high school sweethearts. A friendship and natural intimacy that has come from formative years spent walking along life's path together.Brett had his heart set on Shelley from pretty much the moment he saw her at school, though it wasn't until after they left and found themselves working across the road from each other that the stars really aligned. And it was in the glorious country setting of Mana Lodge in Hawke's Bay that they became husband and wife. Shelley made the grandest of entrances through the Mana Lodge loggia down through a meadow of lavender to where Brett waited under a shady walnut tree. "When I saw her the first thing I thought was 'WOW...that's a long way to walk and I can't wait for her to get here because she looks amazing," explains Brett. The walk and the wait was worth it and the rest of the day and night was a little like a fairytale come to life. And even though sometimes my grooms get a little nervous about the idea of professional photography, Brett says it was a great experience. "You brought the best out in us on our special day to create everlasting memories which we will treasure for the rest of our lives. The way you worked was so natural and not intrusive at all. If I am honest, I don't remember seeing you unless it was the times we were actually posing with you!" It's amazing how me and my big long lens can just melt into the shadows when you are living the best day of your life.
